Sherry May Hamming, beloved wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 2, 2025. Born in Kalamazoo, MI, on March 31, 1953, Sherry lived a full and vibrant life. Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, Garrit and Grace Lynema, her sister Carol Sue Phillips, and her son James Roger Fee, Jr. She is survived by her husband Steve Hamming, her sister Ruth Goff and daughter Kai (and Ryan and family), her brother Charles Hawley and his wife Linda, their two sons Brad and Adam and their families, her cherished grandson Austin James Fee and his brother Jacob Taylor, and her daughter in law Danna Taylor, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews, including Steve's many nieces and nephews.
A hard worker throughout her life, Sherry held various jobs, always demonstrating her dedication and resilience. In 1994, Sherry met Steve while he was working as a machine operator for Arvan in Kalamazoo. Sherry was in quality control for Arvco, which operated in the same building. Her deepest fulfillment came from her family, especially her grandson Austin, whom she affectionately called "Her Hunnah Bunnah," and her niece Kai, lovingly referred to as "Her Tootser." Sherry's love for music was evident in her enjoyment of line dancing. She was especially known for changing the song halfway through in her excitement to enjoy the next one.
Sherry deeply loved her cat, Puddy, whom she adored and followed everywhere outdoors, always ensuring he was well-fed. Her passion for collecting unique pudding stones brought her great joy. As she walked in new places, her eyes were always on the ground looking for exceptional rocks to add to her collection. Sherry loved reading and mushroom hunting and found peace and happiness around a campfire, where she would spend hours chatting. She really did have the gift of gab! She was a true people person, relishing the opportunity to host guests in her cabin and watch them enjoy tubing down the river.
Sherry's warmth, love, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
