Sherry Rae (Berklite) Long May 10, 1949 – May 19, 2025
Sherry Rae (Berklite) Long passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She was born in Washington, D.C., to Richard L. Berklite and Myrtle Wagaman Berklite.
As an Air Force “brat,” Sherry spent her childhood traveling the world with her family. Their adventures included living in Taiwan and on several military bases throughout Germany, including Berlin, where she graduated high school in Frankfurt. She loved to tell stories of their time abroad — camping across Europe, skiing in the Swiss Alps, and soaking in cultures far from home.
Sherry married the love of her life, Orville “Dennis” Long, on February 1, and they shared a devoted life together until his passing.
She was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi and a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. She had a creative spirit and a passion for shopping.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Dennis; and her niece, Christy Lea Williams.
Sherry is survived by her daughter, Tami Daniel (John Lusan); her grandson, Cody Weitzel; her siblings, Pamala A. Shores (Ted), Linda L. Berklite, Deborah S. Berklite, and Michael A. Berklite; and many cherished nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
