Sherry Elaine McCollum, 79, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Franklin Grove Nursing Center, in Franklin Grove, IL. She worked for many factories throughout her life, retiring from Borg Warner.
Sherry was born on August 10, 1945, in Dixon, the daughter of Albert and Gladys (Seybert) Coppotelli. She married Harold McCollum on June 26, 1965, in Dixon. Sherry was a homebody who loved her children, family, and Elvis.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 60 years, Harold "Short" McCollum; children, Jim (Michael) Scott-McCollum of Davenport, IA, Tammy Tompkins of Rock Falls, Terry McCollum of Amboy, IL; four grandchildren, Dustin McCollum, Joshua Tompkins, Justin Tompkins, Jason Tompkins; brother, Gary (Trish) Coppotelli; sister, Sandy Truitt; sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Coppotelli; and many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Keith Tompkins; daughter-in-law, Jackie McCollum; grandson, Devin Michael James McCollum; granddaughter, Amber Washam; brother, Joseph Coppotelli; and brother-in-law, Lee Truitt.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at Noon on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with Pastor Jack M. Briggs, officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. A Luncheon will be provided at the Dixon Elks after the service.
A memorial has been established.
Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon.
