Douglas E. McCollum, age 58, of Van Buren, Indiana, passed away at 7:14 am on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Marion Health. He was born on January 7, 1967, in Marion, Indiana, to Fred McCollum and Bonnie Cartwright.
On May 21, 1994, Douglas married his best friend and the love of his life, Linda (Gunyon), who survives.
Douglas was a proud graduate of Mississinewa High School and was a driver for Boomtown Donuts. He was known for his love of the outdoors--especially tending to his yard and growing sunflowers. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren and found joy in connecting with others, both in person and online. His passion for motorsports was expressed through iRacing, where he built a community and shared his enthusiasm.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Linda McCollum of Van Buren; sons, Derik McCollum of Jonesboro, Brett McCollum of Marion, and Shane Michael-Brent McCollum of South Bend; and step-son, Kevin Riley-Charlton Gunyon of Van Buren. He is also survived by his brother, Nick McCollum of Richmond, KY; sister, Angi O'Connell of Gas City; and step-mother, Nancy McCollum of Richmond, KY.
He leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren: Bryce, Kaiden, Kinley, Gaige, Audrey, Jackson, and great-granddaughter, Raylynn, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Douglas was preceded in death by his father, Fred McCollum; mother, Bonnie Cartwright; and brother, Dusty McCollum.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
