Visitation will take place on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 5:00-7:00pm at the Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Milford. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Terril.

Sherry Rae Morris (Gunderson), daughter of Duane and Yvonne (Bennett) Gunderson, was born on August 24, 1957, and passed away on June 22, 2025.

Sherry spent most of her life in Terril, where she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She earned her associate degree from Iowa Lakes Community College and went on to hold a variety of jobs over the years. Many will fondly remember her behind the bar at The Refuge, where her warm smile and easy conversation made everyone feel welcome. However, her favorite role was working for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources at the Spirit Lake Fish Hatchery—a job that perfectly blended her love for the outdoors with meaningful work. After her time at Energy Panel Structures (EPS), Sherry embraced the rewards of early retirement, filling her days with the people and activities she loved most.

Sherry lived a life full of joy, laughter, and deep devotion to those around her. In recent years, one of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren, creating special memories filled with love and laughter. She had a generous spirit and was always ready to lend a helping hand—acts of service truly defined her character.

A talented cook, Sherry loved preparing meals that brought family and friends together. Her kitchen was often the heart of the home, filled with the smells of delicious food and the sounds of conversation and laughter. She also had a creative side and was incredibly crafty—skills she learned from her mother included sewing, crocheting, and quilting, which she carried on with pride.

Sherry had a competitive streak and enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre, often making a friendly game into a lively event. When her children were young, she was their biggest fan, faithfully attending their sporting events and cheering them on from the sidelines.

A true outdoorswoman, Sherry enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, hunting, and golfing in her younger years. She also loved the camaraderie of group motorcycle and snowmobile rides, including poker runs and trips to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Sherry never met a stranger. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and made people feel seen and welcome. Her kindness, generosity, unmistakable laugh, and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

A lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings, she attended many games over the years, always cheering passionately for her teams.

Sherry had a deep love for animals, especially dogs. She was a devoted pet owner, and her dogs—Niki, Tasha, Elsie, Pebbles, and Bang—each enjoyed long, happy lives by her side.

To many, she was more than a friend—she was a bonus mom, especially to all of Shawn and Seth’s friends, who were welcomed with open arms and an open heart.

She is survived by her sons, Shawn and Seth Morris; grandchildren: Maddox, Khole, Kora, Kooper, Kenzie, Harper, and Araeya; and brothers, Rick and Kurt Gunderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle, Doris and Elwin Clark; and uncle, Bruce Gunderson.
