Sherry Neff

Sherry Neff died peacefully on January 23, 2022 after a brief illness. Sherry was born December 29, 1946 in Charleston, West Virginia, but grew up in Connecticut where she developed a love of the sea. She graduated from Lawrence & Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in New London, CT and spent over 45 years working as a nurse, first in units and then in operating rooms which became her specialty. Her old school standards brought comfort to patients and instilled confidence in surgeons.
After her retirement Sherry served as a volunteer at The Ivey, lovingly caring for the patients. As a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Sherry was part of a ministry visiting residents at Southminster, which became a telephone ministry during the covid pandemic. Her regular calls brought hope and cheer to those who were so isolated. She was a loving, generous, and loyal friend to many who will miss her dearly. She was passionate about animals, especially the birds she kept well-fed out her window, and her cats and dogs.
A memorial service will be held and livestreamed on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 1412 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the animal charity of your choice.
