William S Heindl III

William Sclater Heindl III, 59, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

He was born on June 9, 1966, in Richmond, Virginia. Sclater attended Union Fork Military Academy for high school and later Elon College. In 1990, he moved from Richmond to Charlotte, North Carolina, where he built a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and an unmistakable passion for living. In 1996, he founded Carolina Site Concepts, growing it into a large and thriving paving company before selling it in 2017. After taking a well deserved break, Sclater partnered with a longtime friend to launch Superior Sealing Products in 2021, from which he retired in June 2025.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sclater was devoted deeply to his family. He loved fiercely, protected wholeheartedly, and showed up without hesitation for the people he cherished most. Sclater embraced life with enthusiasm and heart. He loved fishing, hunting, boating, spending time at the beach, and snowboarding. Music and concerts brought him joy, and he lived life out loud with an energy that inspired those around him to do the same. He shared a special bond with his beloved black lab, Luna, whose companionship meant the world to him.

Sclater's legacy is one of bold living, deep love, and unwavering devotion to the people in his life. His mantra, "Taking Care of Business," reflected both his work ethic and the way he showed up for those he cared about. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his drive to live life to the fullest and his ability to make every moment count.

A service will be held on Saturday, February 21st, 2:00PM at Kings Mountain Preserve, 321 Indian Springs Road, Blacksburg, SC 29702.

In lieu of flowers, his loved one's request that donations be made in Sclater IV's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Sclater's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
