Sherry Proctor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hile-Best Funeral Home on Jan. 7, 2026.
Sherry Lee Proctor, known to friends as "Lee," 61, of Shippenville, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at her mother's home in Seneca, PA of natural causes.

Sherry was born April 28, 1964 in Sharon, Connecticut to Helen Betty Williams and William Leonard Proctor. Sherry attended Meadville High School and left school early to enlist in the United States Army, obtaining GED while in the service and later attending college. In the Army, she was trained in field artillery surveying and also worked in the Quartermaster Corp. She served one enlistment and was discharged. She chose to re-enlist after 9/11 and went to Afghanistan. At the time of her second discharge, she had reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. She was very proud to serve her country.

Sherry worked in different industries, but enjoyed most her time as a truck driver for Safety-Kleen and Miller & Hartman. The latter involved deliveries to WaWa stores in Eastern PA, New York City, and CT. Later in life she became an entrepreneur, starting and running her own courier business in suburban Philadelphia, garnering a choice contract for QVC shipping via deliveries to Philadelphia International Airport. Hearing loss from field artillery exposure it the military ultimately resulted in her retirement from working when she was awarded benefits as a disabled veteran.

Sherry was an avid reader and learner. Her interests ran from history to politics to cold case shows on television. She would debate you on almost anything. She loved animals and her cats and dog.

Sherry is survived by her partner, Donna Aldrich (Shippenville, PA), mother Helen B. Cauvel (Seneca, PA), sister Debra Owens (Clarion, PA), stepbrothers in the Cauvel family: Melvin (Franklin, PA) and his wife Bobbie (Stoneboro, PA), Denzil (Jackie) (Cochranton, PA), Jim (Kevin Council) (Snow Camp, NC), Robert (Dr. Robert Friedman) (Stockbridge, GA), and Richard (Robin) (Clayton, NC). She is also survived by numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

She was predeceased by her father, William Proctor in 1999, and stepfather Charles Cauvel in 2025.

A memorial is being planned for either May or June. An announcement will be made closer to that time.

Sherry was a supporter of Disabled American Veterans, which provides support and services to disabled veterans and their families. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her name at their website: www.dav.org
