Sherry Purdy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herman-Taylor Funeral Home - Wisconsin Rapids on Feb. 23, 2026.
Sherry R. Purdy, born Sharon Rae Hall on September 12, 1936 in Milwaukee, WI, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin at the age of 89. Formally and informally known as Sherry Hall, Rhine, Stuart, and Purdy, she was an adventurous soul with a compassionate heart. She was a loyal friend, a generous spirit, and a light in the lives of many. Her passion for life and love for her family, friends, and pets made her a joy to be around.

Sherry was a woman of many talents and hobbies which she pursued with relentless enthusiasm. For many years, she was a respected member of the Milwaukee Poodle Club, breeding and showing multiple poodles. The joy she found in her pets extended beyond the show ring, and she opened her heart and home to many other beloved dogs and cats, such as Penny, Baron, Jenna, Cricket, Lovey, Molly, Willow, and so many others. Sherry's adventurous spirit led her to join the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, where the excitement of group rides, parades, and meetups was her passion. Her other affiliations included the American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hat Club, TOPS, and her church, the Lakes Area Christian Fellowship. The verse, "The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing" (Psalm 23:1), was a guiding principle in her life, reflecting her faith and her love of her "flock" of family, friends, and pets.

Sherry's professional life was as an accountant, a job she performed with efficiency and dedication until her retirement.

Sherry leaves behind a family that cherishes her memory: sons Todd and Jeff (Jessi) Rhine, daughter Bella Flowers, step-sons Dale (Kim), Travis, Patrick, and Troy Stuart, step-daughter Brenda (Kenneth) Hess, grandchildren Krystal (Matt) Horan, Cory Shaheen, Keri (Billy) Nickerson, Shaun (Tricia) Dukart, Chad Rhine, Jane Rhine, Joshua Rhine, and Jacob Rhine, and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Luvern and Elsie Hall, husbands Howard Stuart and Kenneth Purdy, and sons Larry and Mark Rhine.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Lakes Christian Fellowship 1167 Alpine Drive, Nekoosa, Wisconsin visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church a lunch will follow. Burial will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

Sherry's life was a testament to the beauty of resilience, the power of love, and the joy of adventure. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all those who loved her.
