Sherry Diane Spence

Sherry Diane Spence, age 62, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at her home with her husband, Mike and her family by her side.
Sherry was born on December 19, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas. Sherry was a graduate of Fort Osage High School in 1978. Sherry and Mike were high school sweethearts and were married on August 11, 1978. At the time of her passing they had been married for 45 years.
Although she had several jobs throughout the years, her primary focus was her family. Whether it was constantly running to baseball practices, games, or tournaments, dance recitals, or piano lessons, she lived her life selflessly in service of others. Once their children were in high school, she started working as a dental assistant up until May of 2023.
Sherry was the kind of person that didn't know a stranger. She treated everyone as family, and absolutely LOVED her family. Her kids and grandkids were her world. She was even known as "Sherry Mom" or "Grandma Sherry" to many kids that were not her own.
In addition to family, Sherry loved to shop. She had boundless reserves of energy for shopping, especially for garage sales or finding a good bargain. Above all, Sherry was a woman of faith, always trying to do the right thing. The foundation of her tenacity and strength was her faith in God.
Sherry was preceded in death by parents Millie Ophelia (Heidelberg) Hicks and Billy Vance Cooper.
She is survived by her husband Mike Spence, children; Jesse, Travis (Felicia), and Heather (Matt), grandchildren; Atira (Trenton), Trenton, Tucker, Maximus, and Viola, and great grandchildren; Marleigh, brothers; Billy Justin Cooper, Tim Cooper, Mark Galbraith, and Michael Galbraith, sisters; Teresa Meyers and Jennifer Morgan, father and mother in law; Lehman and Alice Spence, sister in law; Michelle Brown, brother in law; Mark Spence, and many nieces and nephews.
