It is with great sadness that we announce that in the early morning hours of January 26, 2026, Sherry Varney departed this life peacefully, surrounded by her children.
Sherry was born on May 10, 1951, in Columbus, Ohio. She is survived by her two children, Katie Varney and Casey Varney, grandchildren Travis and Abby Perkins, Zachary Banks and Owen Walsh. A devoted mother and grandmother, Sherry loved all the children in her life and cared for them deeply.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Larry Barry and Carol Martin; her mother, Kathleen Barry; and her husband, Samuel E. Varney.
Sherry had a creative soul and loved writing poetry, making wreaths, and cooking for everyone she loved. She was incredibly hardworking—owning her own business and beginning her work life at a young age. Christmas and Easter were her favorite holidays, and she took great joy in decorating and making those seasons special for everyone around her.
Sherry was a warrior—a fighter—whose strength resonated with all who knew and loved her. Our mom was not just our mom; she was everyone’s mom—a true neighborhood mom. She will be missed beyond words and remembered always.
