Sheryl Elaine Corley Meharg

Sheryl Elaine Corley Meharg, age 68, peacefully passed away October 25, 2025. Services will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park Chapel with visitation Sunday, Nov 2, 2025 at 3:30 pm and Celebration of Life at 4:30 pm with Minister Keith Roberts, Jr., officiating.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Linnie L. and Harry B. Corley, sister, Shelia Corley Britton, father of her children Tom Whitsett, and in-laws, Viola and Jack Whitsett.
She is survived by her daughter Angela Che Strong, son Shaun Whitsett (who nicknamed his Ma, "Sparkly"), her much loved grandchildren Tiphany Freeman and Ayden Strong, great granddaughter Aminah Freeman and her bonus sons Eli and Charlie Meharg, brothers Forrest Wade Corley, and Daryl (Luinda) Corley, sister, Sharon Standifer (Jim), Aunt Faye Caddell, Aunt Ann Croft, Uncle Travis Glenn Lawrence, Uncle Billy Lawrence (Molly), nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Honorary ushers are dear friends Carrie Battles, Ms. Lee Ballenger, Diane Holcomb, dance friends of the PARA Northport Community Center, staff of Faye Manderson Cancer Center, Brookwood High School class of 1976, and former co-workers in the medical field.
Sheryl was a person who always enjoyed an adventure living in places such as Arizona, Massachusetts, Illinois, Texas and Florida. Sheryl was so funny by nature and shared her humor at open mike nights. She never met a stranger, always seeing the good in everyone. She also loved anything and everything sparkly. Sheryl was a licensed nurse who gave care to all she met. As a breast cancer survivor, Sheryl lived every minute to the fullest. Dancing was second nature to her as she could outdance anyone. Singing karaoke was also one of her favorite hobbies, along with painting and photography. Sheryl was a member of Peterson Community Church and had a very giving heart helping all in need.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Faye Manderson Cancer Center for Breast Cancer Patients, Good Samaritan Clinic or Turning Point for Domestic Abuse Awareness.
Our family would like to express our deepest appreciation to all the special angels who gave exceptional medical care to Sheryl throughout the years. Live like Sheryl and make each day count!
