Sheryl A. Shoemaker, 77, of Tellico Village, passed away at her home Friday, Dec. 24, 2021.
She is survived by her husband, Terry L. Shoemaker of Tellico Village; son, Jerry E. (Kerri) Shoemaker of Springville, Ala.; sister, Connie (Ben) Wallenhorst; and nephews and nieces.
While we who remain mourn her passing, we celebrate a life well-lived and full of love.
Born March 6, 1944, in Bluffton, Ohio, she attended Elida High School. While there, she met a fellow student from a rival high school who became her life-long love. After high school, they married and celebrated 57 wonderful years together.
Living most of her live in Ohio surrounded by family and friends, she and her husband decided to retire to the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee to enjoy a change of scenery from the flat lands.
She had many varied interests that she partook with passion. After her son bought a baby parrot, she fell in love with exotic birds and enjoyed raising many more from hatchlings. She ran a business that bred and catered to exotic birds while living in Ohio. After retirement, she kept several of the parrots that she thought of as "her babies."
She was an avid seamstress who could sew anything from wedding dresses to high school band uniforms. After retirement, she enjoyed being a part of the quilting guild in her community. She made many beautiful quilts that were given to charity organizations by the guild, and many more that were enjoyed by her family and friends.
She also loved Corvettes, and was an active member of the Corvette Club for many years in both Lima, Ohio, and Tellico Village as she and Terry shared a love of Corvettes with others.
She was a sweet, caring person who was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her father, Ray E. Blosser; mother, Alma F. Blosser; and sister, Nancy Kirchoffer.
A private memorial service was held.
