Shiley Nivens

Shiley Nivens (76) of Mulvane, KS passed away February 3, 2025. He was born on September 3, 1948 in Wichita, KS as the first born child to Fern and Delbert Nivens. He was an adventurous child, often exploring too far from his Wichita home. He was soon blessed with two little brothers, Denney and Keith. The family then moved to Belle Plaine, KS. This was a town small enough to allow his parents to keep track of the active boys. Like his father, Shiley was outgoing and friendly, never knowing a stranger. Shiley graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1966. He continued his education at Cowley County Jr College, Friends University and Wichita State University, graduating with a Political Science degree. Shiley worked for Standard Oil, Southwest Grease, Boeing and finally Spirit Aerosystems in contract negotiations. He had two marriages along the way. Shiley is preceded in death by his parents Delbert and Fern. He is survived by his brothers Denney Nivens and Keith Nivens; his children Jenelle, Jansen, and Emily; and six grandchildren, Montana, Michaela, Garrett, Brooklyn, Shye and Ivy. Shiley often talked of his favorite memories while working projects with his father, like the days spent rebuilding his MG sports car and his 650 BSA motorcycle. He recently commented about how he would love to ride his motorcycle again. Grave side memorial service at Belle Plaine Cemetery on S Line will be on March 1 at 2 pm.
