Shirlene Knight Smith, 85, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. She was born in Calhoun, Georgia, on June 26, 1940, to the late Ernest and Alice Knight. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hilburn “Smitty” Smith; son, Jeffrey Shane Smith; brother, Melvin Knight; sister, Maxine McBee; grandson, Dylan Smith.
She is survived by her son, Rusty (Shelia) Smith; daughters, Connie (Gregory) Brown, Shannon S. Petty; brother, Alfred Knight; sisters, Linda Brown, Betty Bolen, Janie Thomas; grandchildren, Misty Lackey, Ashley Smith, Carson Brown, Summer Smith, Spencer Brown; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and one-great-great-granddaughter also survive.
Shirlene enjoyed flowers and working in her garden. She was a wonderful cook and loved to feed her family. She was the rock of her family and loved them dearly. She was a godly woman and a dedicated member of Newtown Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Newtown Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM from Newtown Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Kevin Benton, Calvin Benton, Carson Brown, Trey Brown, Brady Lackey, and Tony Silvers.
