Shirley Diana "Doddle" Applegate Cooper

Shirley Diana "Doodle" Applegate Cooper, age 81, of Tollesboro, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 12, 2025, at Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation in Maysville, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born July 3, 1943, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ora and Blanche Fite Applegate.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, George Junior Cooper; one daughter, Marilyn Thomas; two brothers, Bud Applegate, Roger Applegate and three sisters, Lilly Beckett, Ruth Applegate, Eva Joyce Flack.
She was a member of Full Gospel Pentecostal Church in Manchester, Ohio, and loved going to church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley was a strong independent woman who's strength came from Jesus.
Shirley is survived by one daughter, Sheryl (Larry) Henry of Maysville, Kentucky; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Gary Applegate, Cary Applegate, Van Applegate all of Tollesboro, Kentucky; one sister, Jennifer Mason of Maysville, Kentucky, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Tollesboro Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 11918, KY 57, Tollesboro, Kentucky, with brother Tony Corns officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Lewis County.
Friends may visit after 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2025, until the service hour at Tollesboro Funeral Home.
