Shirley Jean Armstead, 77, of Canton entered eternal rest on November 26, 2024. Shirley was born in Canton, Ohio, on Nov 6th, 1947, to the late James and Pearline Parker.
Shirley was a graduate of Mckinley High School.
Shirley married her ex-husband Marc Armstead Sr. To their union, they welcomed two children, Marc Armsted Jr. & Tara Armstead.
Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother. She had a big heart and a love for helping all people. She retired as a nurses assistant from JT Nist Nursing Home. Shirley was a born again believer. She was a faithful member of New Life Ministries for many years, where her pastor was Pastor William E. Kelly.
Shirley loved spending time with family, playing cards, cooking, watching movies, shopping for jewelry, and studying the Bible.
Shirley was preceded in death by her birth mother Jessie Gladden (Parker). Parents, James and Pearlene Parker.
Shirley is survived by her two devoted & loving children, Marc (Demica) Armstead and Tara (Eddie) Hampton. Sister's Jessie (Bob) Stafford & Gwedolyn Knott Sissac. Grandchildren; Marc Armstead, Cadence Armstead, Aubri Armstead, Isaiah Hampton, and Josiah Hampton. A host of nieces, nephews, friends & honorary nephew Jason Griffin who lovingly nicknamed her "Diana" & Honorary niece Cynthia R. Armstead. Honorary great niece Cyntrell T Armstead
Visitation will be held from 12:00pm to 1:00pm on Friday, December 6, 2024, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church (1800 Tuscarawas St E. Canton, OH 44707). A funeral service will begin at 1:00pm with Pastor Michael Kelley, officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
