Shirley L. Ayers, 77, of Brevard, passed away peacefully at Mission Hospital on October 6, 2025, following period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Ticie T Ayers, Sr and the late Eva Phillips Ayers.
A graduate of Brevard High School, she attended AB Tech and worked at St Joseph's and Mission Hospital Systems for 49 years. Her greatest love was working in labor and delivery as a scrub nurse. After an injury which forced her to step away from nursing, she was a Health Unit Coordinator in Orthopedics for many years.
Shirley loved trips to Folly Beach. She cherished her friendships with the group Alabama which began in 1973. Over the years Shirley and her sister, Cissy owned and rescued 6 little dogs, which were the loves of their lives. In her final years, her main focus was "Callie" a Yorkie, the sunshine in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ticie T Ayers, Jr, Andrew Earl Ayers, Charles Logan Ayers, sisters Rosie Powell, Norma Galloway, Jewell Hightower, Elaine Raines, and Carolyn T Ayers.
She's survived by sister Ellen "Cissy Faye" Ayers of the home and brother Allen Ray Ayers of Brevard and "Callie" her special furry 'niece' as well at many nieces and nephews.
No services are planned per Shirley's wishes.
