Shirley Rose (Hazenbuhler) Badgett, age 86, of Louisville, Kentucky returned to her Heavenly Father on Friday, March 7, 2025. She was born on November 24, 1938, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a member of St Luke's Catholic Church and was a Kentucky Colonel. Shirley worked for the Democratic party and previously worked at Mercy Academy. Her kind and giving nature found her doing volunteer work for St. Vincent DePaul. Shirley loved to travel and was an avid fan of football and basketball. Her true passion was her family; spending time with those she loved is what she held most dear to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil Louis Badgett; parents, Rose Mae and Jerome Rueve; daughter, Leah Rose Badgett and siblings, Jerry Rueve, Joy Quiggins and Patsy Beckmann.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Phyllis Watts (Kenny), Vickie Mondun, Lorri Moss (Danny), Sherri Maier (Kaye), Jamie Badgett (Cathy) and Kathy Badgett; grandchildren, Jeff Watts (Melissa), Jason Watts (Kelley), Bobby Mondun, Chris Mondun, Becky Mondun, Scott Nunn (Heather), Jonathan Nunn (Jenny), Kyle Nunn, Morgan Calkin (Tim), Maggie Nohalty (Bryce), Caylen Knight (Brandon), Madelynn Powell, Jackson Badgett, Danielle Foster (Nathan) and Jennifer Lewis (Brian); 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; special friends, Barry and Mary Pat Ballard and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 11:00 at St. Luke Catholic Church (4211 Jim Hawkins Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40229) with inurnment in St. Michael Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd).
Expressions of sympathy to WHAS Crusade for Children or Down Syndrome of Louisville in honor of Shirley are greatly appreciated.
