Shirley Barfield Daniels

Shirley Barfield Daniels, 76, of Blountstown, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, September 20, 2025. She was born on March 22, 1949, in Panama City, Florida to Owen Barfield and Ree Johnson Barfield. Shirley was, above all else, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She retired from the Calhoun County School Board in 2016 after working at Blountstown High School as the Data Entry Clerk for 22 years. She loved the Blountstown Tigers and all the many wonderful staff and students that came through her door. Shirley enjoyed collecting recipes and was famous for her homemade Southern cooking, especially her buttermilk pie, among her friends and family. She loved collecting heirlooms and trinkets from the Barfield and Daniels family history because no matter how distantly related, every family member meant a great deal to her. She was passionate about raising money for missions, especially through the Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge (BGMC). She raised countless dollars to supply children around the world with Bible literature and was awarded by the Assemblies of God on behalf of her church for her efforts. She instilled this love of missions in the countless children that she loved and taught in Sunday schools and church nurseries for nearly 50 years. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers-in-law Kenneth Daniels and Willie Daniels. Shirley is survived by her husband, Harold Daniels; her son, Joseph Daniels, her daughter-in-law, Cassia Daniels; and her grandchildren, Jakin, Lillyanne, Lydia, and Josiah Daniels. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, JA (Alice) Daniels, Larry (Donna) Daniels, and Herman (Marilyn) Daniels, as well as her sisters-in-law, Marian Daniels and Wanda Daniels, and many beloved nieces and nephews and close cousins whom she loved deeply. Services will be held on Thursday, September 25th, at Page Pond Assembly of God with a Visitation at 10:00 am and a Celebration of Life at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest at Cypress Creek Community Cemetery in Kinard, Florida, following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to West Florida Assemblies of God BGMC fund. All arrangements are under the direction of Peavy Funeral Home of Blountstown FL.
