PARISHVILLE - Funeral services for Shirley A. Barrett, 84, a resident of 720 County Rt. 58, Colton, will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 3 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton with Elder Kenneth Ashley presiding. Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, Parishville. Family and friends may call at the Buck Funeral Home in Colton on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Mrs. Barrett passed away Monday evening, October 27, 2025 at the Albany Medical Center with family at her side. Shirley is survived by her daughter Karen Barrett, Colton; a brother and sister-in-law, Reginald and Judy Barrett, Parishville; a cousin, Sharon Peters, Kingston, NY as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents Howard and Evelyn, a step-son, Donald H. Barrett; a sister Elva M. Bump and a cousin Larry Gumaer.
Born at home in Parishville on the family farm on July 21, 1941 to the late Howard C. and Evelyn Cowles Shampine, Shirley graduated from Parishville-Hopkinton Central School. She married Donald W. Barrett on June 4, 1960 in Potsdam, NY. Donald later passed away on August 29, 2008. Shirley retired from Clarkson University after many years working as a secretary. In her free time, Shirley enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, knitting and crocheting, but found her most enjoyment came from spending time with her family and friends. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shirley's memory can be made to the Parishville Fire Department or Rescue Squad and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com. The Buck Funeral Home in Colton is serving the family of Shirley A. Barrett.
