Shirley Ann Baxter passed away on February 25, 2026, in Clearfield, Utah. She was born December 17, 1942, in
Powell, Wyoming, the oldest daughter of George Milan Bloomfield and Julia Ann Lindsay Bloomfield. She grew up living mostly in Powell, attending school and learning many things from her parents including how to be responsible and self-reliant.
After high school, Shirley found work and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. It was during this time in her life that friends introduced her to her future husband, Andrew Baxter. They were married in the summer of 1964 in
Powell, Wyoming. Their family was later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. After marriage, Shirley and Andrew moved to Layton where they made a home and raised their children.
Shirley was able to fulfill her dream of raising a family and being homemaker while her children were young and growing up. After her children graduated from high school, Shirley entered the work force for a few short years, mostly doing data entry in the purchasing department of a schoolbook depository.
Shirley was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings during her life. In her spare time, she especially enjoyed working on her family history. In her later years, she spent many hours researching and documenting the lives of her ancestors so that their stories would be preserved for future generations.
Shirley is survived by survived by her children, Le Anna and James (Kelene); her brother, David Bloomfield (Barbara); and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Gene.
Services will be held on Saturday March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary in Layton, 250 North Fairfield Road
Layton, Utah. A short viewing will be held prior to services from 10:15 -10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, 100 N Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
