SHIRLEY MARLENE FAIRCHILD (ADAMS) BLACKBURN WAS BORN ON JANUARY 28, 1931, IN TWIN FALLS, IDAHO TO PARENTS EUNICE WELKER FAIRCHILD AND ELMER KOPMAN FAIRCHILD. SHE ATTENDED CASCADE HIGH SCHOOL UNTIL MAY 11, 1949. SHE MET AND MARRIED KENNETH LEE BLACKBURN ON JUNE 18, 1952, IN CASCADE, IDAHO AND THEY WERE LATER SEALED IN THE IDAHO FALLS TEMPLE 5/23/63. THEY HAD 5 DAUGHTERS WHO THEY RAISED IN KIMBERLY, IDAHO UNTIL GETTING TRANSFERRED BY THE IDAHO POWER COMPANY TO SHOSHONE, IDAHO IN 1965. THEY LIVED IN SHOSHONE UNTIL THEY WERE TRANSFERRED TO VALE, OREGON AND LATER SETTLED IN ONTARIO, OREGON WHERE THEY RESIDED UNTIL JULY OF 2023. THEY RESIDED IN WEISER, IDAHO UNTIL THEIR PASSING.
SHIRLEY WAS VERY ACTIVE IN THE LDS CHURCH AND LOVED SERVING OTHERS. HER AND KEN SERVED IN THE BOISE, IDAHO TEMPLE. SHE ALSO SERVED IN THE BEEHIVE CLOTHING CENTER, PRIMARY, YOUNG WOMENS, AND AS A RELIEF SOCIEIY COUNSELOR AND PRESIDENT, HOMEMAKING LEADER AND AS WARD LIBRARIAN. SHE LOVED GARDENING AND HER BEAUTIFUL ROSES. SHE WAS VERY CREATIVE AND SEWING, PAINTING, AND COOKING WERE A FEW OF HER PASSIONS. FAMILY WAS HER MAIN FOCUS TAKING CARE OF HER 5 GIRLS AND KEN.
AFTER LOSING HER HUSBAND KEN ON 8/31/23, SHIRLEY IS SURVIVED BY HER DAUGHTER DENISE (KIT) CHRISTENSEN, HER DAUGHTER RONDA (JOHN)MAY, HER DAUGHTER TAMMY (DALE) SORENSEN, HER DAUGHTER LORI (DION) GARNER, AND HER DAUGHTER MARISA (JEFF) LAMM. SHE HAS 16 GRANDCHILDREN AND 27 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY HER SISTER GINA BETH BLACKBURN AND HER HALF SISTER PATSY CHAVEZ.
SHIRLEY PASSED AWAY ON OCTOBER 15, 2025, IN WEISER, IDAHO.
THE FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE STAFF AT THE COTTAGES ASSISTED LIVING IN WEISER AND WHITE OAK HOSPICE NURSES.
THE FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD SATURDAY OCTOBER 25, 2025, AT 11:00 A.M. VIEWING WILL BE FR0M 10:00-11:00 AT THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS LOCATED AT 661 SW 12TH STREET IN ONTARIO, OREGON 97914.
