Shirley D. Comer

Shirley Doris Comer, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2023, after a courageous battle with lung cancer, at her residence in Calumet, Oklahoma. Her warm smile and unwavering love for her family and friends will forever be cherished in their hearts.
Shirley was born on April 21, 1938 in Blackwater, Missouri, to Alfred Patrick West and Marjorie Pearl West. She married the love of her life, Arlen Lee Comer, on December 22, 1956, and together they built a beautiful life and family. Their love was evident in their four children, Ron Comer, Clay Comer, Susan Comer, and Julie Burbridge.
Family played a significant role in Shirley's life, and she cherished every moment spent with her 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Their smiles and laughter brought immense joy to her heart. In addition to being with her loved ones, Shirley enjoyed spending her time crocheting, playing the organ, camping, fishing, and birdwatching.
Shirley will always be remembered for her warmth and selfless nature. Her kindness extended beyond her immediate family, as she frequently volunteered her time and talent to provide for others. She was an active member of her church community at Red Rock United Methodist Church in Calumet.
She was preceded in death by her spouse Arlen, sons Ron and Clay, parents Patrick and Marjorie, siblings Wayne, Don, Delores, Ralph, Jack, Mary, and Doug, and granddaughter Marie.
She is survived by daughters Susan Comer (Martin Lapiska) and Julie Burbridge (Mike), siblings Judy Bell and Laurie West (Terri), granddaughters Lea Johnson (Greg), Asia Gerbers (Casey), Kayli Oliver (Jordan), Lindsey Jones (Nathan), Casey Lorenzen (Buck), grandsons Corey Comer (Sarah), Clay Allen Comer (Kim), Dave Comer, Rob Comer, Chris Comer (Aymee), 21 great grandchildren, and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
May she find eternal peace and may her memory continue to touch the lives of all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed.

Come and Go viewing and visitation will be at Wilson Funeral Home from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Friday, August 11, 2023. Family will be present from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Red Rock United Methodist Church in Calumet on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Buena Vista Cemetery.
