Mrs. Shirley Mae Covarrubias, age 44, a resident of Lake Alfred, Florida passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Winter Haven Hospital surrounded by family. Mrs. Covarrubias was born November 8, 1980, in Denver, Colorado to Jose and Tina Renee (Williams) Gonzalez. She was a Polk County resident since the 1980's coming from Colorado and a homemaker. Shirley enjoyed volunteering at all the kids elementary schools, helping others, crafting, going to the beach and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her mother in 2011; paternal & maternal grandparents. Shirley is survived by her loving family, husband of 20 years – Noe Covarrubias of Lake Alfred; 4 sons – Oscar Valdez of Auburndale, Jacob Covarrubias of Lake Alfred, Joshua Covarrubias of Lake Alfred & Kaleb Covarrubias of Lake Alfred; daughter – Julianna Fuentes of Lake Alfred; brother – Isaias Fuentes of Winter Haven; 2 sisters – Christina Williams of Auburndale & Misty Holt of Auburndale; granddaughter – Liliana Mae Fuentes of Lake Alfred; 6 nephews – Jay'vaun, Tay'vaun, Aushunte, Darien, Bradley & Keegan; 3 nieces – Za'myria, Mari'yana & Jasmine. Funeral service will be held 4pm Friday, January 17th at Kersey Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 3.

She´s was my best friend and the most amazing mother I could ever ask for she´s been there for me every step every relationship every problem I had she was always there when I needed her this broke my heart loosing my best friend and the other half of my heart Ik she´s up there looking down happy in no pain smiling and laughing and no doubt fishing with a corona in her hand with Nani and granny but ima make her proud no matter what and ima take care of everyone and especially little penut she was mamas little granddaughter we love u mama always will and always have

I am so sorry for the hurt & pain the family is feeling. This wasn't supposed to happen. Shirley you were an amazing mother wife sister grandmother and friend. I admire the love & support you had for your family and friends. You were a beautiful person inside and out your laugh was contagious your smile lit up a room. You faught a long fight you are a real life warrior in my eyes. Watch over your family protect and guide them from above. I'm so sorry this happened to you. May you forever RIP sweet angel
