Shirley Fooks Crippin, 97 of Benton, Kentucky passed away November 20th, 2025 at Marshall County Hospital.
Shirley was born in Marshall County on March 17, 1928, the youngest daughter of the late Sam and Nellie Harper Fooks. She was blessed with eleven brothers and sisters and their spouses. They all have preceded her in death. Mary Alice Fooks, Ruby (Hugh) Reed, Leoda (Lake) Riley, Bertha Fooks, Magdalene Fooks, Marie (Roy) Story, and one infant sister; and four brothers, Willie Fooks, Courtney (Helen) Fooks, Louis (Mary) Fooks and Sam (Janis) Fooks, Jr.
Shirley Fooks and Richard Crippin were married in November 1950. They lived in the Ann Arbor, Michigan for 35 years. After retirement they resided in the Benton, KY area.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Richard Crippin and their son Earl Crippin.
Shirley was class president of Sharpe High School class of 1948.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Karon Crippin Bernhard (Larry) of Dexter, MI. Five grandchildren; Gabe Bernhard (Jennifer) of Dexter, MI, Josh Bernhard (Megann) of Grass Lake, MI, Jennifer Crippin-House (Charles)of Dexter, MI, Juliet McNamara (David) of Ann Arbor, MI, and August Crippin of Westland, MI, and five great-grandchildren Ruby, Scarlett, Brady, and Caleb Bernhard and Elaina Fuller.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church. Service will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 with Elder Danny Ferrell and Ken Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Fooks Cemetery.
