Shirley Noyd Edmond passed away August 11, 2021, from a long term illness. She was a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Shirley was an Orthopedic Nurse until she retired from UCHealth Memorial Hospital North, Colorado Springs. She also worked at other hospitals in the United States. As a military wife she had many friends across the United States and England whom she remained in contact with until her passing.
Shirley Noyd Edmond was born to Alex Noyd Sr. and Vernice Williams Noyd in McNary, Arizona, Apache County. The family moved to Phoenix, AZ when she was school age. Shirley graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar Elementary, Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary and Phoenix Union High School. After having three children and divorcing, Shirley graduated from Mesa (Arizona) Community College Nursing (Registered Nurse) Program. When she remarried and had a growing family of five children, she received her Bachelor's in Nursing from the University of Phoenix at Colorado Springs.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Alex Sr. and Vernice Noyd, her sister Daisy, brothers John Henry, Russell and Alex Jr., and her husband Johnnie Edmond. She is survived by her sisters Maudie Noyd and Bobbie Miller; children Vernon Calvin Jr., Gregory Calvin, Tanya Calvin, Kristi Edmond and Jonathan Edmond. Further she has eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, scores of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who will dearly miss her loving presence in their lives.
Mama's (Shirley Edmond) services will be held at Greewood Memory Lawn Chapel in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday August 28, 2021 from 10:30AM to 1:00PM, 2300 W. Van Buren St. Phoenix, Arizona 85009.
A service in Colorado Springs will be held at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 9:30AM to 11:30AM, 3615 Vickers Dr. Colorado Springs, CO 80918.
