Shirley “Jean” Egolf, 90, of Bedford, died on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Pennknoll Village Nursing Home. She was born on March 4, 1935 in Ellerslie, MD, a daughter of the late Guy E. and Mabel P. (Burkett) Hyre. On January 20, 1969 in Winchester, VA, she married John H. Egolf and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2018. She is survived by two children: David L. Horn and wife Connie of Bedford, and Paula J. Hoover and husband John of Greensboro; two step-children: John W. Egolf and wife Sherri of Schellsburg, and Marianne Wolfe and husband David of Orlando, FL; eight grandchildren: Jacquelyn Koontz and husband Joel of Bedford, Suzanne Horn of Winter Springs, FL, Brett Hoover and wife Melissa of Huntingdon, Brittany Deardorff and husband Drew of Summerville, SC, Natalie Wolfe and spouse Syd Pisetzky of Tampa, FL, Nicholas Wolfe of Orlando, FL, Kate Egolf of Orlando, FL, and Julie Egolf of Bedford; and 11 great-grandchildren: Emilia, Grant, Oliver, Audrey, Tyler, Andrew, Eli, Brooke, Landon, Asher, and Sawyer. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson: Andrew Hoover; a sister: Betty Bowser; and a brother, Wayne Hyre.
Jean graduated from Hyndman High School and attended Bedford Alliance Church. She worked at Walt Disney World Resort for nine years and was also a sales representative for Avon. She loved shopping, going out to eat, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
