Shirley (Jones) Englehart passed away on September 10, 2023, at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob Englehart. She is survived by her children, son, Jim Englehart of St. James, MO; daughters, Barb (Tim) Schwane of O'Fallon, Mo and Connie (Rod) Snyder of Friedheim, Mo; grandchildren, Jim (Melanie) Englehart, Mindy (Jason) Blanc, Nick (Andrea) Snyder, Jill (Justin) Heller, Jeremy (Christie) Snyder and Alan (Lynn) Schwane; great grandchildren, Alexia and Ethan Englehart, Kane and James Gorman, Megan, Owen, Spencer, Will and Nora Snyder, Dane Horman, Gwynith and Logan Heller and Avery Schwane; one great-great grandchild, Patricia Gorman. She is also survived by her brothers, Dean (Sue) Jones and Gary (Jeanine) Jones; one sister, Dorothy Farrow and one sister-in-law, Carol Englehart. Shirley was preceded in death by Bob, her husband; her father Spencer C. Jones; mother, Ethel G. Jones nee Morton, brothers, Eugene and Joe Jones; sisters, Eulene Davenport and Patsy Langston; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Englehart nee Lee.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Shirley was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to her. She was a lifelong, active member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church where she served on various committees and enjoyed cooking for church gatherings. She worked as a secretary for 25 years at Fort Zumwalt High School and Mount Hope Elementary school. She was a member of the O'Fallon Optimist Club and American Legion Post 388 Ladies Auxiliary.
Shirley enjoyed camping and square dancing for many years, enjoyed card games with friends and her winters in Florida as a snowbird after retirement. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. Everyone loved her chicken and dumplings! Shirley was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank Twin Oaks Senior Living in O'Fallon, Barathaven Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Dardenne Prairie and Breeze Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
Her funeral will be at Baue Funeral Home in Cave Springs with burial in the Memorial Garden. Immediately following a celebration of life will be held at Knights of Columbus Hall in O'Fallon, MO.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Cornerstone United Methodist Church 1151 Tom Ginnever Ave. O'Fallon, MO 63366.
