Shirley Fleak, 79 of Williamstown, WV passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Camden Clark Medical Center surrounded by her family following a 3-year battle with endometrial cancer. She was born on October 23, 1945, a daughter of the late Pearl and Opal Wright Fleak of Washington, WV.
Shirley spent her young adult years employed by Camden Clark Memorial Hospital caring for patients until marrying her husband, John Fleak, in 1967.
Her family included her husband, John Fleak; daughter, Kimberly Wood (Clifford, deceased) of Williamstown, WV; son, Brian Fleak (Todd) of Fairmont, WV; and granddaughters Ashley and Courtney Wood both of Williamstown.
She was the second oldest of nine children: Carolyn Carney (Jim), Pearl (June) Fleak, Jr., Carl Fleak (Pam), Betty Nichols (Bill), Gary Fleak (Shelia, deceased), Jerry Fleak (deceased) (Candy), David Fleak (Alicia), and Susan Nickoson (Rick). She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews.
Shirley enjoyed spending time outdoors, jigsaw and word search puzzles, and coin collecting. She especially enjoyed spending quality time with her granddaughters taking care of them, from babies to young adults.
Shirley, like her own mother, valued her family immensely. Family functions gave her great joy, and she always stressed the importance of family above all else. She remained in close contact with her siblings, children, and grandchildren, giving her all to attend the annual family summer picnic just days prior to her passing.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2025, at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Reverend Kody Inman officiating. Services will conclude with Shirley laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery South in Parkersburg, WV. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 4, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
