The world is a little dimmer today as one of its brightest and most colorful inhabitants passed from this realm into the next. Shirley Jean Gibson-Walker age 87 was born March 26, 1938, in Omaha Nebraska, and passed from this life (or, in her words, got on the train and went home) on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Point Lookout Nursing and Rehab Center in Hollister Missouri surrounded by people that love her. Her son, Scott, describes Shirley as "a good lady, full of life, and very caring". She enjoyed listening to gospel and country music and liked to sing and dance and make people smile. It didn't matter what was going on in Shirley's day, she always had on jewelry, was dressed nicely and had her hair done up. She favored bright colors and anything with sparkle. She had a full and wonderful life. She made friends easily with her outgoing personality and quick wit.

Shirley was proceeded in death by her devoted husband Ernest Walker, father Walter Gibson, mother Margaret Grace-Gibson, brothers Bill Gibson, and Bob Gibson.

Shirley is survived by her son Scott Burke of Omaha Nebraska, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild along with a host of family and friends.

A celebration service of Shirley's life will be announced.
