Shirley Gideon, 89, of Lubbock, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 13, 2023.
Shirley was born June 5, 1934 in Annona, TX to Benjamin and Gladys Coffee. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1952. Shirley married James R. Gideon on August 24, 1954. She was an Administrative Assistant at R. S. Wilkinson and Associates for many years. Her dedication and attention to detail were widely appreciated by those she worked with, and her professionalism was second to none. She and her husband were charter members of Oakwood Wesleyan Fellowship where she was a member of the choir and served the church in many capacities. One of her greatest joys was her life in the church.
Shirley was a devoted wife and mother of three children. Her devotion was not limited to immediate family but was also extended to the families of both her and her husband. She built and sustained many lifelong friendships as well. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering and line dancing as hobbies.
Loved ones include her children, Dianne Stone (husband, Steve), Tim Gideon and Jeff Gideon (wife, Rebecca); granddaughter, Amy Popejoy (husband, Ruston); granddaughter, Savannah Bownds (husband, Trey), granddaughter, Karlee Vander Dussen (husband, Eric); great-granddaughters, Emma Popejoy, Ellie Popejoy and Adalynn Bownds; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Gideon; sisters, Mary Van Butcher and Ollie Jean Miller.
Memorials are suggested to Oakwood Wesleyan Fellowship.
Her family would like to thank her caregivers for the loving care and support provided to Shirley during her final years.
Visitation will be at Sanders Funeral Home, Thursday, November 16, 2023, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 17, 2023 at Oakwood Wesleyan Fellowship 2215 58th Street Lubbock, TX.
