New Hope Funeral Home - SunnyvaleMichael Jack Gideon, born on March 17, 1957, in Lancaster, California, passed away on February 19, 2026, at his home in Garland, Texas. He was a beloved father and grandfather, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories for his family and friends.
Michael's life was marked by his passion for sports, particularly during his youth when he played tailback for North Mesquite High School. He enjoyed sharing stories from those days and had a particular fondness for listening to the radio, immersing himself in the sounds of classic tunes and sports broadcasts. An avid reader and history enthusiast, Michael found great joy in delving into the past and sharing his knowledge with those around him. His love for the great outdoors was evident in his hobbies of hunting and fishing, activities he often enjoyed with family, creating lasting bonds and memories.
Michael is survived by his son, Taylor Gideon, and daughter, Lyndsee Fryar. He was a proud grandfather to Thomas Gideon, Owen Gideon, Preslee Schwartz, and Waylon Gideon. Michael will be deeply missed by his siblings, brother Jim Gideon, sister Cindy Geer, and sister Tammy McMennamy, along with his brothers-in-law, Joe Geer and Walter McMennamy, sister-in-law, Lynne Gideon and his dear daughter-in-law, Nicole Gideon, and son-in-law, Brandon Schwartz.
Michael Jack Gideon's spirit will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched, and his warmth and stories will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
