Shirley Powell Hamilton
Easley, SC
Shirley Powell Hamilton, 93, of Easley, went home to be with the Lord at her home early on the morning of February 5, 2023. She was born August 11, 1929. She was the wife of her beloved husband, the late Frank M. Hamilton for 69 years before his passing in 2019. She was the daughter of the late Roark and Mamie Stewart Powell of Pickens, and predeceased by five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her brother JL Powell (Pat) of Norris.
Also surviving are her sons Moseley (Pree) of Liberty, Charles (Sharon) of Easley, Norman (Deb) of Mauldin, Timothy (Gay) of Easley and her daughter Alice Dodson (Terry) of Rosman, NC, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a member of the Easley First Baptist Church for over 73 years, where she served in the children’s ministry for 50 years. Shirley’s true ministry was preparing and serving delicious meals for others. She was the Church Hostess for Easley First Baptist Church, where she graciously served for over 40 years.
There was a special place in her heart for the youth. Generations of students ate meals she planned and prepared at the Easley Senior High School, where she was the Lead Dietitian for over 30 years. She spent several summers preparing and serving meals for the Big-League World Series teams from all over the world.
Shirley was a true humble servant of God. She dearly loved and was loved by her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends, yet we will look forward to seeing her again in heaven.
In memory of Shirley’s generous nature, love for Jesus and her Church; in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Easley First Baptist Church fund “For Generations Fund”.
The family will receive friends at Easley First Baptist Church from 1:00pm to 1:45pm, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
Burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park immediately following the service.
