Shirley Himes Obituary

Shirley Jean Himes, 94, widow of J. Alvin "Rosie" Himes, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024. She was born on October 26, 1929, in Sugarcreek Township, Venango Co., Pennsylvania to the late Madge Beach and Lester Rice. Mrs. Himes had worked for JC Penny and was a long-time member of Cranberry United Methodist Church in Cranberry, Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Himes enjoyed sewing and gardening. In fact, she had quite the green thumb.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Deborah (Baxter) Napier; sister, Marilyn Johns; granddaughter, Anna (Kevin) McCalla; son-in-law, Larry Towse; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Towse; and her brothers, Robert Rice, James Rice, Leroy Rice, and Jack Rice.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, April 19, 2024, from 1-2pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2pm, officated by Rev. Dennis Burrows.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Asbury Cemetery in Clarion- Limestone Pennsylvania.
Per the family's request, please do not send flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
