On August 17, 2025 Shirley Elizabeth (nee Funk) Hipley passed into the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Melvin Robert Hipley and a devoted mother to Wayne Hipley and his wife Julie, Jeffrey Hipley, Philip Hipley and friend David Henry, Lisa Hipley Katona and her husband Michael. She was a cherished grandmother of Martha Hipley, Grady Hipley, Kaylee Katona, Zachary Hipley, Mitchell Katona, Jessica Hipley, Noah Hipley, and Isabella Katona.
Shirley was predeceased by her loving parents, Grady Ray Funk, Erma (nee Hale) Wade and her late husband William Lee Wade Sr. She was the dear sister of Barbara Menegatti, Evangeline Creswell, William Lee Wade, Jr., and her foster siblings, R. Lee Morrison, the late Tony Mathes, and the late Jeanette Luckhart, as well as her late step-brother, David Funk. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Ethel Hipley and Ruth Anna Hipley, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A woman of deep faith and steadfast love, Shirley’s greatest joy was time spent with her family. Her devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister was matched only by her faithfulness as a Christian, which guided her life and left a lasting example to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
The family will receive friends at the E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A., 11750 Belair Road in Kingsville, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 pm and 7:00–9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Bel Forest Baptist Church in Bel Air on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 10:00 am. Shirley will be laid to rest at Highview Memorial Gardens.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the kindness, love, and support shown to them during this difficult time.
