Shirley Glasgow Jacobs, 87, passed away on September 7, 2025. She was born in Durham, the daughter of the late John Glasgow and Margaret Tilley Glasgow. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jacobs was also predeceased by husband, Alfred "Jake" Jacobs; second husband Virgil "Whitey" Garnes; son, Robert "Robbie" Jacobs; and brother Jerry Glasgow.

Mrs. Jacobs was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and Timeless Cruizers Car Club. Shirley loved her family, friends, the beach, and her 55' Chevy.

Shirley grew up with a deep love for the beach. She loved to spend long days in the sun with her feet in the sand. She had a home at Carolina Beach but as her family grew bigger, she found her way to Kure Beach. Her grandkids understood that when they were with Granny, you were going to be at the beach from breakfast to dinner. She instilled a love of fun in the sun, and God in all her family. She loved her church and her church family. She wanted everyone to know Jesus, so they could be blessed enough to see each other again one day.

Mrs. Jacobs is survived by her son, Larry Jacobs and wife Jeanne; daughters, Karen Jacobs and husband Larry Carroll, Tina Miller and husband Vern; daughter-in-law Lisa Jacobs; grandchildren David Jacobs (Melissa), Lisa Petersen (Matt), Christa Holden, Shannen Potter (Bryan), Preston Jacobs (Kaleigh); great-grandchildren Tyler Jacobs (Kortney), Emerson Jacobs, Conner Jacobs, Lyla James Petersen, Sayde Ray Petersen, Miller Holden, Levi Potter, Lucy Potter, Logan Potter; great-great-grandchildren Jefferson Jacobs, Adlee Jacobs.

A private family service was held.

The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. in Durham. Online condolences may be sent to www.clementsfuneralservice.com.
