Shirley Jeter Obituary
Shirley Ruth Lyles Jeter, 76, of Carlisle, SC, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at her residence. A native of Union County, Shirley was born on January 15, 1948. She was the widow of Arthur Lee Jeter, Sr. and the daughter of the late Hardin Lyles, Sr., and Forestine Jeter Lyles.
Shirley graduated from Union High School, class of 1965. She was employed as a twister for J.P. Stevens & Company for many years. She was a faithful member of Jeter Chapel AME Church. She was also a member of the Women's Aide Society Lodge # 83.
In addition to her husband, and parents, Shirley was predeceased by her son, Nathaniel "Nate" Jeter; two brothers; Hardin Lyles, Jr., and James Hill.
Those left to cherish fond memories are her two sons, David Lyles, and Arthur Lee Jeter, Jr.; four grandchildren, Ashlee Jeter, Tre'Ryan Jeter, Sharah Tilprieste Lyles, and Shyah Elizabeth Lyles; one sister, Myra Lyles; aunt, Ethel Mae Gaffney; uncle; Jimmie Lee Jeter; nephew, Calvin Hill; nieces, Debra Hill-Hunter, Morestine Lyles, Jestine (A. Garnard) Brewster, and Lorantine (LaChristen) Glenn; brother-in-law, James "Bud" Jeter; sisters-in-law, Bobbie Jean Fuller Lyles, and Carolyn Jeter; and a host of loving cousins, other relatives and friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Community Mortuary Inc. 361 Meansville Road, Union, SC.
