Shirley Jones

Shirley L. Jones was born, March 9, 1950, to the cherished and loving union of Sam Jones, Sr. and Juanita Boson Jones in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Shirley was baptized at an early age. Her early schooling included Holy Cross Elementary and Cunningham Junior High School. She graduated from Floyd L. Moody High School in 1969. Shirley then completed two years of study at Southwest State University in San Marcos, Texas. She was employed at Walmart and a substitute teacher for Corpus Christi Independent School District. Afterwards, she became a caregiver at a nursing facility in Corpus Christi for five years. Shirley devoted many years as a caregiver for her mother, father and sister until their passing.

Shirley's quiet and humble personality caused all who came to know her to enjoy being in her presence. Although she was quiet, her hearty laughter could fill a room and the hearts of those around her. Shirley loved and was extremely devoted to her family. She made sure their needs were met and always expressed her concern for everyone. Her conversations always included asking about and sending regards to her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and sisters-in-law.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Sam and Juanita Boson Jones and her sister, Dorothy.

Survivors left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Sam Jones, Jr. (Marva) of Killeen, Texas and Bill Jones Sr. (Patricia) of Houston, Texas; Aunt, Mable Boson Toney of Hempstead, Texas; One niece, Charmane Lilly (Orvis Sr.) and three nephews, Justin Jones, Jarred Jones (Naomi), Bill Jones Jr., great nieces, Khloe, Bailey, Mallory, Che'Anne (Jones) Raylah, Genesis (Lilly), great nephews, Samuel (Jones) Ramone, Orvis Jr. (Lilly) and a host of cousins and friends.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Tom Boson Jr., Justin Jones, Bill Jones Jr., Christopher Grant, Donald Boson, Charles Grant, Charles Jones, Robert Livingston and Ronald Boson.

A special thank you to Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center staff for the great care and compassion they gave to Shirley while she was in their care.
