Shirley Knuth Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck Funeral Home in Austin/Round Rock on Aug. 25, 2023.
Shirley Jean "Lietz" Knuth, 75 of Austin, Texas, passed unexpectedly on July 30, 2023, in her home.
Shirley was born on March 6, 1948, to Emil and Helen (Niebuhr) Lietz in Long Prairie, Minnesota. She grew up in Round Prairie, Minnesota and graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1966. After graduation, she attended St. Cloud Vocational School and graduated with a business degree in 1967. She also earned a Paralegal degree from the University of Houston Clear Lake in 1994.
Shirley married Ed Knuth in 1967. They had one child together, their son, Arin. Shirley was inquisitive and adventuresome by nature. At a very early age she knew she wanted to travel and live in different places. Shirley lived in Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Texas, and Wyoming. She was very interested in Spirituality and loved studying, exploring, and discussing it, Buddhist principles in particular.
Much of Shirley's career involved performing land and title work for oil companies. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and also with her large extended family in Austin for Sunday Fundays. She also enjoyed hiking, movies, meaningful conversations, downhill skiing, the Rocky Mountains, and exploring the North Shore in Minnesota. She is survived by her son, Arin; his wife, Stephanie (Roach); grandchildren, Cassy, Carmen and Johnnie; sister, Jan Anderson (Lietz); and nieces, Corinne Anderson (Kirsten), Carmen Anderson (William); and her special friend, Mark Difenderfer.
She is preceded in death by her father, Emil and mother, Helen. Her family plans to return her to one of her favorite places, the Rocky Mountains, and will keep her memory alive with their Sunday Fundays in Austin. A celebration of her life with her sister and nieces in her home state of Minnesota is planned for a later date. Sister, aunt, cousin, mom, Anya (grandma), and friend to so many, she will be missed.
