Shirley James McConal stepped into the arms of Jesus of Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Shirley was born on November 3, 1935 to Anna Lee and Roy James. Roy died at an early age from injuries sustained in World War 1 and Anna Lee married Bryon Harden who was Shirley's father for the majority of her life. Shirley attended TCU in Fort Worth and was later employed by General Dynamics. She was supervisor of a typing pool that oversaw the distribution of highly sensitive documents. She married Griff Mack McConal, Jr ("Mack") on October 5, 1956. They were married 63 years.
She was a voracious reader and loved to dance - at country dancehalls or live concerts of many all-time greats. Her sharp wit and sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew her.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, Mack.
She is survived by her brother, Billy James of Granbury, TX, and children - Griff Mack McConal of Pismo Beach, CA, Luann Sandahl and husband, Scott of Austin, TX, and Roxie Thomas and husband, Jackie of Cross Plains, TX. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Donations in Shirley's memory can be made to Cross Plains Senior Citizens Center.
