It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Geneva Merle Bethany, who passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born on January 12, 1937, to Doyce Stewart and Hallie (Jackson) Stewart in Gorman, Tx. Geneva spent her life pouring love into her family, especially her beloved sons, Bobby Linney and Tommy Linney, and her cherished grandkids.
Geneva was known for her warm and welcoming spirit, always cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Her enchiladas were legendary, and family and friends alike would eagerly anticipate her amazing German chocolate cake. She embodied the essence of a nurturing mother and grandmother, sharing her love through every meal she prepared.
In her early years she often visited the First Baptist Church in Rising Star, Texas, where she found joy and fellowship with her community. As a nurse for over 15 years, Geneva dedicated herself to caring for others, bringing kindness and compassion to every patient she encountered.
In her spare time, Geneva loved to sew and quilt, creating beautiful pieces that will be treasured by her family for years to come. Her creativity and talent will be remembered fondly by everyone.
Geneva is survived by her son, Bobby & wife April Linney; son, Tommy & wife Vicki; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; sister, Sharon Goodwin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Doyce and Hallie Stewart; former husband, L.J. Linney; husband, J. Bethany; sister, Vickie Claborn.
