Shirley Davidson McGuire, a beloved retired educator from the MS Gulf Coast, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024, in Biloxi. She was born on October 20, 1931, in Greenville, Mississippi, to her loving parents Gaddis and Marie Davidson.
Shirley's dedication to the field of education was unwavering. She received her undergraduate degree and her Master of Education and Library Science Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. She spent her career teaching in various Harrison County Schools until her retirement in the early 1990s. Her commitment to shaping young minds left an indelible mark on the community she served.
Outside of her profession, Shirley found solace in the pages of books and cherished her numerous trips to the library. Her passion for reading was evident to all who knew her, and it brought her immense joy throughout her life.
In 1950, Shirley exchanged vows with J.C. McGuire, Jr., of Saucier; their union lasted 64 years until J.C.'s passing in 2014. Shirley is survived by a large and loving family: her seven children, Pat Wilson (Bruce), Mike McGuire (Lynn), Nancy Allen (Terry), Mitzi McGuire, Jimmy McGuire (Christe), Denise Hebert (Rick), and Dede Saucier (Lamar). Additionally, she leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren who will always cherish her memory.
The services to honor Shirley's life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS. A visitation will take place from 10:00 AM to 10:50 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at the same location. The final farewell will follow at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens for a graveside service.

Shirley Davidson McGuire will be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, and love for learning. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched during her time on this earth. May she rest in eternal peace.
