Shirley Yvonne Metheney, 86, Point Pleasant, West Virginia passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in her home following a lengthy illness. Shirley was born June 20, 1936 in Minerton, Ohio, daughter of the late Franklin William and Ethel Mae (Thacker) Oiler. She was a member of the Ewington Church of Christ in Christian Union. She married her husband, Donald Metheney, June 19, 1954 at Danville, Ohio and he preceded her in death October 31, 2018.
To this union were born Terry (Cathy) Metheney, Gallipolis, Ohio; Rick Metheney, Langsville, Ohio; Sandra Kay (Greg) Stamper, Point Pleasant, West Virginia; Donna C. (David Williamson) Cobb, Point Pleasant, West Virginia and Jimmie (Diana) Metheney, Langsville, Ohio and eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are brothers Paul Oiler, Doug Oiler and Chester Oiler, all of Lancaster, Ohio; sisters, Geraldine (Harold) Hiles, Lancaster, Ohio and Deanna (Jerry) Russell, Logan, Ohio.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded by brother, Robert Francis Oiler and sisters-in-law, Joan Oiler and Helen Oiler.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, August 14, 2022 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel with Pastor David Greer officiating. Burial will follow in Piper Cemetery near Vinton. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday 1:00 PM to the service time of 2:00 PM.
