Shirley Gladney Ming, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away at home on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the age of 85.
Visitation will be at Ott & Lee Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Crestview Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Ming was born March 3, 1939, in Choctaw County, Mississippi, to Bernice Gladney and Lorene Mills Gladney. She graduated as salutatorian from Weir High School in 1957. On September 14th of that year, she married Plemon Ming. Together, they were blessed with two children, Steve and Cindy.
Mrs. Ming was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She was an excellent cook, and she enjoyed reading and traveling. She and Plemon have visited 48 of the 50 states and been on many cruises together. The family spent many days camping in their motor home and boating and fishing at the reservoir.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Lorene Gladney, and her great grandson, Leif Ming.
She leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Plemon Ming; children, Steve Ming (Joy) and Cindy Fulkerson (Jeff); sister, Brenda Box (Anthony); grandchildren, Ashlie Ming Garland (Dru) and their daughter, Magazine, and Joshua Ming (Hannah) and their children, Clementine and Emmett; along with several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Gideons or to Meadowgrove Baptist Church Missions.
