Shirley Motkowski, age 95, passed away on July 30, 2025. Shirley was born July 24, 1930, on the family farm in the Town of Pound to Melton and Amelia Hein. She graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1949. She married Gene Motkowski on August 15, 1953, at St. John Lutheran Church in the Town of Grover; he preceded her in death on March 8, 1982. Shirley and Gene raised their six children in Peshtigo.

Shirley was employed by the City of Peshtigo in the office of the City Clerk-Treasurer for 28 years. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, actively involved in the Ladies Aid and Alter Guild. Shirley was a member of the Peshtigo Women's Club, Peshtigo Historical Society and volunteered for many years in the Bay Area Medical Center gift shop.

Shirley loved fishing and never turned down an offer to fish with her kids. Shirley was an avid traveler, traveling throughout the United States and world. She often said her favorite destination was her trip to Jerusalem. She played golf, enjoyed gardening and was a loyal Bulldog fan throughout her long life. Shirley loved having the family together at the cabin on the bay and at the Motkowski home she and Gene built. Many wonderful gatherings were celebrated with Shirley hosting kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

Shirley is survived by her children, Stephen (Nancy), Brian (Joanne Harper), Craig (Sally), Gary (Cheryl), Kathleen (Mike Dulak) Joy, and Debra (Craig Bruso) Techmeier; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Gene, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Melton and Amelia Hein; and her in-laws, Thomas and Vivian Motkowski.

A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at the Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo. Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home is serving the family.

Shirley said any years after 80, were bonus years. Family and friends felt lucky to have had so many fun-filled bonus years with Shirley.
