Mrs. Shirley Miller Peel, age 85 of LaFollette, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family near on Thursday, June 27th, 2024. Shirley was a member of New Horizon Baptist Church and most recently attended Cedar Hill Baptist Church. She was a retired teacher and counselor who was loved by all of her students. Shirley was a loving wife to Cecil, mother to Brent, Jill, and Jinger, and grandmother to Kaela, Kaine, Sarah, and Jacob. She was an adoring great-grandmother to Easton, Adalie, Cecilia, and Laythan, and was a devoted friend to many in our community. In addition to her Husband, Cecil Peel, she is preceded in death by parents, Hubert (Speedy) and Okie Miller, brother, Jim Miller, sister, Carolyn Parrott, and brother-in-law Garland Parrott.
Shirley is survived by her loving children; son, Brent Peel (Kim), daughter Jill McGuire (Don), daughter and loving caregiver, Jinger Peel; 5 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; sister Imogene Parker (Arnold) of San Antonio, TX; numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends Scott, Carla, and Joshua Jeffers. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, 11:00 AM at Campbell Memorial Gardens with Rev. Dr. Bryan Burge and Rev. Doug Clem officiating. Because of Shirley’s love for sports, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in her memory to the Jellico High School Football Team, c/o Jellico High School, 141 High School Lane, Jellico, TN 37762.
