Herman Dorsel Carroll passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025, peacefully at his

home surrounded by his family. He was born February 7, 1935, to Victor R. and

Elizabeth (Wilson) Carroll.

In the 1940's he moved to Jellico, Tennessee with his family. He attended Jellico high

school where he played basketball and baseball. He enrolled in the Army as a medic

and played baseball with a league during the Korean War. He met and married Rhonda

Joyce Barnett in 1965. They moved to Dayton, Ohio where they started their family. He

worked and retired from Chrysler Motors in 1993. Upon retiring Herman & Rhonda

moved to Sparta, Tennessee.

In his retirement Herman was an avid gardener and sprots fan. His favorite teams were

the St. Louis Cardinals & Tennessee Vols. He coached various softball & baseball

teams his children played on while growing up. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren

play softball, baseball, and basketball. As his grandchildren got older he enjoyed

hearing about their fishing tournaments and beauty pageants.

He was preceded in death by his father Victor R. Carroll, mother Elizabeth Carroll,

brothers Ed Carroll, Gene Carroll, Elmer Carrol and Morris Carroll, a sister Wilma

Creekmore, and a daughter Tamara Annette Carroll.

Herman is survived by his wife of 60 years Rhonda J Carroll, daughter Jamie (Brent)

Herren, son Paul Carroll, daughter Amy (Dallas) Kelley, son Tony (Lisa) Carroll.

Grandchildren Allyson (Drew) Scott, Logan (Jesse) Phillips, Brenden Herren, Mackenzie

Carroll, Collin Carroll, Riley Carroll, Elijah Kelley, and Savannah Kelley. Great

grandchildren Annora Scott, Maddux Scott, Wilder Phillips, Aailyah Minton, and Tyson

Williams.

The family will receive friends Tuesday September 23 from 12:00 - 2:00 with the service to follow in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow the services in Robinson Chapel Cemetery.
