Born in Concord Ma, on May 4, 1937, Shirley was the daughter of the late Lillian (Breault) Olsen and Peter Olsen. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years William E. Penniman who died in September of 2000, and by her daughter, Sandra Lynn Penniman in July 2012, and grandsons John Penniman of Leominster Ma, Noah Penniman of Arlington, Ma. She graduated from Acton High School, and was a lifelong resident of Acton.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother for all of her children. She was an accomplished singer in the choir for her church, St Elizabeth of Hungary in Acton. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family gatherings.
Shirley is survived by her sons William & his wife Deborah of Nashua NH, Thomas & his wife Jean of Leominster MA, James of Acton MA, Peter & his wife Sandra of Leominster MA, George of Acton MA and Michael of Acton MA. 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation is Sunday June 8, 2025 at Acton Funeral Home 2-4pm. Funeral service will be at St Benedict Abbey, 252 Still River Rd., Harvard MA 01467 10:30 am. Please meet directly at the Abbey. Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery in West Acton MA.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Cancer Society, in Shirley's name.
