Shirley Ann Pennington

Shirley Ann Eason Pennington, 95, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, in Heath, Texas. Born on June 6, 1929, in Ripley, Tennessee, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-and great-great grandmother who valued faith, family, and service.
She married and adored her childhood sweetheart Herman "Dugan" Schafer Pennington, Jr. on December 27, 1947, and together they built a loving home for over 70 years. Shirley had a distinguished career as an administrative officer with the Department of Justice Immigration Department, where she was recognized with numerous awards for her dedication and service. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed shopping, playing bridge and canasta, and was active in the Daughters of the Nile.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband H.S. "Dugan", son Timothy, parents H.W. "Babe" and Flossie Eason, and siblings Marie and Haywood. She is survived by her children Mike and his wife Deborah, Penny and her husband Boyd, and Patrick and his wife Amie; grandson Zach, whom she and Dugan raised, and his wife Nadia. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren; Paul, Sarah, Christoper, Matt, Steve, Alicia, Celia, Schafer, Noah, Cannon, Eason, Colman and Zebediah. Her survivors also include 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren as well as a niece, Becky Eason Burkett and husband Ernie, and several cousins.
Shirley's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed. Her memory lives on in the family she nurtured and the many lives she touched.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Reflections Chapel – Rest Haven Funeral Home, Rockwall, Texas. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the same location.
